Law360 Names Freshfields Partner International Arbitration MVP

Elliot Friedman, a New York-based partner and Head of Freshfields’ International Arbitration practice in the Americas, has been named an International Arbitration MVP by Law360. The Law360 MVP award highlights attorneys who have distinguished themselves from their peers by securing hard-earned successes in high-stakes litigation, complex global matters and record-breaking deals.

Elliot’s practice focuses on international commercial and investor-state arbitration.  He has particular expertise in pharmaceutical, energy, financial services and technology disputes and has handled arbitration proceedings before almost every major arbitral institution. Highlights of his practice include representing BG Group against Argentina in BG’s success before the US Supreme Court, which marked the first time the Supreme Court has reviewed an investment treaty arbitration award, representing ConocoPhillips in a landmark, $8.5B arbitration victory against Venezuela following one of the largest expropriations in history, and representing the London Stock Exchange Group in defeating a major breach of contract claim in a New York seated international arbitration.

This is the second time Elliot has received the Law360 MVP award, having previously received it in 2018.
