Graduates

We like home-grown talent.

So we’re always looking for highly motivated, capable graduates who want to start their legal careers with Freshfields.

You should have an excellent academic record, a broad range of skills and achievements in other areas. You’ll need an assured and confident personality with plenty of drive and enthusiasm.

You’ll need to be a creative thinker with strong analytical skills. You’ll also have to be fluent in Russian and English, with good team-working and people skills. Organisation and self-discipline are important too.

We offer paralegal positions to Russian-trained graduates of the internship programme. However exceptional candidates can be invited during the year.

Our training experience

During your training you'll get to work on multidisciplinary, often cutting-edge deals for prestigious clients. You'll learn from outstanding professionals from different jurisdictions and cultures, in a friendly, supportive environment.

You won't be confined to one department. You'll have the chance to work in different practice areas to give the broadest perspective on our work and help you decide where you'd like to focus.

You'll also receive continuous training and professional development. At every stage of your career, you'll be encouraged to take part in internal and external training, including seminars and conferences in Russia and abroad.

The pace is fast and responsibility comes early. You'll take part in client transactions from day one, working alongside senior colleagues.

There's no limit to how far you can go. Your role on a project depends on your ability, level of experience, readiness to assume responsibility, and trust earned with senior colleagues.

You'll have access to extensive information resources, precedents, standard forms and knowhow databases.

And you'll find out if you've got what it takes to be a success in a big, global law firm.

Rewards and benefits

We offer one of the best reward and benefits packages in the industry.

We pay your law school tuition fees and your examination and registration fees, and we give you a maintenance grant so you can focus on your studies.

Once you've qualified, we pay a competitive starting salary, with a significant increase in your second year.

On top of that, you get benefits including travel schemes, lifestyle benefits like gym membership, pension and a range of insurances.

Student programmes

Every year we offer internships to ambitious and motivated Russian law students during their master degree program.

The most prominent candidates join us to find out what it's like to work in a major firm. They work with our lawyers on tasks such as information searches, managing document files, due diligence and writing contracts.

You should apply for the programme in March. Interviews take place in April and May and the programme starts in summer.

At the end of the programme, the best interns are offered paralegal positions. Paralegals who successfully pass the final assessment become associates.
