About Jan Henning Buschfeld
Jan specialises in litigation and arbitration and advises national and international clients in all areas of business and commercial law with a special focus on antitrust litigation.
Over the last decade, Jan has developed an extensive expertise in all aspects of antitrust damages litigation including coordination of cross-border litigation, mass claims and econometric damages analyses. He also advises clients on climate change-related liability and ESG risks.
Jan is a member of our global antitrust litigation group. He speaks German and English.
Recent work
- Defending clients in and out of court against cartel damages claims following decisions by the European Commission and the German Federal Cartel Office inter alia in relation to the trucks, rail track and hydrogen peroxide cartels.
- Acting for a mineral oil bunker and shipping company in its defence against a damages claim regarding the abuse of a dominant market position.
- Acting for a media and publishing group in its defence against a damages claim regarding the abuse of a dominant market position.
- Representing a major European energy company in a landmark climate change litigation case.
- Representing a German gas supply company in ad-hoc arbitration proceedings against payment claims from a supply consortium.
- Defending a German pharmaceutical manufacturer in ICC arbitration proceedings under Swiss law against the US distributor of certain pharmaceuticals claiming damages amounting to $228m.
