Hysan is an associate in the Global Transactions Group of our Hong Kong office, specializing in financial services regulatory and compliance matters.

He regularly acts for banks, broker-dealers, fund managers, wealth managers, payments services providers, FinTech platforms, stablecoin issuers, and insurers.

Hysan’s practice includes advising on the structuring, licensing, documentation, and other regulatory aspects in connection with the acquisition or launch of regulated businesses, services, and products. He also advises on conduct and compliance matters under a host of banking, securities, insurance, and data protection regimes.

Before Freshfields, Hysan worked at another leading international law firm, and prior to that, in the Investment Products Division of the Securities and Futures Commission.

Hysan graduated from the University of Hong Kong with first class honors. He is fluent in Mandarin, English, and Cantonese.
