About Daniel French

Daniel has extensive experience across a broad range of complex cross-border financing transactions.

He acts for banks, corporates and sponsors on banking deals across the credit spectrum, ranging from investment-grade corporate facilities to more highly leveraged, event-driven financings and leveraged buy-outs.

Before relocating to Hong Kong in January 2013, Daniel previously worked in our London and Singapore offices and spent a year on secondment with the leveraged finance team of a major international investment bank in London.

Recent work

  • Advising blue-chip companies and conglomerates on a number of high-profile syndicated loan transactions, including Cheung Kong Property Holdings on its HK$55bn syndicated loan facilities and Alibaba on over US$20bn of syndicated loan facilities.
  • Advising Warburg Pincus, CVC, Blackstone, Affinity Equity Partners and other international private equity funds on a number of leveraged buy-outs, refinancings, pre and post IPO margin loans and other share-backed financings.
  • Advising international investment banks on a range of bilateral and syndicated loan financings, including advising the lenders on a US$3bn loan facility for The Hongkong Electric Company.
  • Advising Chinese investors on outbound acquisition financing, including advising Midea on the €4.1bn financing for its acquisition of Kuka (read more about the deal in our case study) and a consortium led by ANTA and FountainVest on the €4.2bn financing for its acquisition of Amer Sports.
