About Justin Locke
Justin is a senior associate based in our Abu Dhabi office and specialises in M&A and other corporate matters across multiple industries and jurisdictions. He was recently seconded to ADNOC. Previously, Justin was based in our Vienna office.
Prior to joining Freshfields, Justin trained in the Sydney office of a leading law firm in the Asia-Pacific and worked at Lionsgate in London.
Recent work
Select examples of Justin’s experience include advising:
- Mondi on several sell and buyside M&A transactions including its exit from Russia.
- APG on multiple joint ventures including its joint venture with Orange Polska, valued at €605 million, creating the largest independent wholesale fibre operator in Poland.
- Mayr-Melnhof Group on its acquisition of International Paper (Poland) Holding sp. z.o.o., an integrated pulp and paper site in Poland, from International Paper for approximately €670m.
- Mayr-Melnhof Group on its sale of virgin fiber cartonboard mills located in Eerbeek, Netherlands, and Baiersbronn, Germany.
- Certain shareholders on the sale of an aggregate 37% stake in East Mediterranean Gas Company, S.A.E. to a joint venture between Delek Drilling LP, Noble Energy International and an Egyptian Partner, for $518m.
- National Bank of Greece on multiple disposals, including the sale of:
- Banca Romaneasca S.A., the Romanian retail bank, to Banca de Export-Import a Romaniei EximBank S.A.;
- National Bank of Greece (Cyprus) Ltd, the Cyprian retail bank, to AstroBank Limited; and
- certain assets and liabilities of the National Bank of Greece’s branch network in Egypt to Bank Audi S.A.E.
- Compass plc on the divestment of their operations in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania.
- Carrier Global Corporation on the bid for a leading Polish manufacturer of fire detection and alarm systems.
- Banca Transilvania on the English law aspects of its acquisition of 100 per cent of the share capital of Microinvest, a company specialised in financing small businesses, the leader of the non-banking financing market in the Republic of Moldova.
- Tnuva, the Israeli food creation and marketing company, on its bid to acquire Imlek, a Serbian food company specializing in milk processing and dairy products.
- Emarsys, a leading platform provider for cross-channel customer loyalty, on its takeover by SAP.
