About Roopa Mathews

Roopa is an associate in the international arbitration group based in Frankfurt.

Roopa specialises in commercial and investment arbitrations, and has acted for clients from the mining, financial services, aerospace and telecommunications sectors. Before joining the Frankfurt international arbitration team, Roopa worked in our London and Washington DC offices.

Roopa is a lecturer in English law at Goethe University, Frankfurt.

She speaks English, French, Spanish, Malayalam, and intermediate German and Italian.

Recent work

  • Representing a global industrial company in multiple ICC arbitrations with its suppliers 
  • Representing a German chemical manufacturing company in an ad hoc post-M&A arbitration
  • Representing a German listed automotive company in an ICC arbitration with its distributor
  • Representing the German financial services provider Portigon AG (formerly WestLB) in an ICSID arbitration brought under the Energy Charter Treaty against the Kingdom of Spain
  • Advising a global industrial company in relation to its contractual and statutory rights and obligations under English law arising out of various supply contracts
  • Acting as secretary to the Tribunal in an English law ICC arbitration relating to the construction and delivery of a glass recycling plant
