About Nicolas Rücker

Nicolas specializes in complex and multijurisdictional litigation and arbitration.

 

He co-heads Freshfields' German product liability focus group and is a senior member of Freshfields' German ESG  litigation and Freshfields' global sustainability focus groups.

 

Nicolas has extensive dispute resolution experience, having represented clients in 180+ court and arbitration hearings. He represents clients both in commercial litigation and arbitration (under DIS Rules and ad-hoc) as well as in mass claims and appellate litigation. He has advised clients in the automotive, healthcare, energy, transportation, food, optical, chemical, telecommunications, technology and private equity sectors. An experienced negotiator, he has been lead counsel in several multi-million euro settlement negotiations. He is also heavily involved in Freshfields' pro bono activities.

 

He has gained valuable experience in civil appellate litigation while being seconded to the law office of a leading attorney admitted to the German Federal Court of Justice (Rechtsanwalt am Bundesgerichtshof). He has also been seconded to Freshfields' Tokyo, Vienna, Hamburg and Paris offices. Previously, he has been a member of Freshfields' patent litigation practice. 

 

Nicolas is fluent in German and English.
