About Mohammed Sayeed

Mohammed is a senior associate in our global transactions team, based in Abu Dhabi. 

He joined Freshfields from the mainstream corporate department of a global law firm in London where he specialised in private equity and financial sponsors work in Europe, the US and Asia.

Mohammed has experience of advising financial sponsor clients on a broad range of cross-border transactions including leveraged buy-outs, mergers and acquisitions, consortium deals, minority investments and shareholder arrangements and has worked with leading private equity houses, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and financial investors on their international strategic investments.

Recent work

Mohammed’s recent experience includes advising:

  • a number of high-profile sovereign wealth funds and key GCC-based entities in relation to numerous M&A, funds and JV transactions.
  • Alpha Dhabi on its majority investment in Metito Holdings Limited.
  • a Middle-Eastern private investment firm on the establishment of a $300m incorporated joint venture with a US bank in relation to a wealth management technology platform.
  • Mubadala Capital on its successful bid for the Witherslack Group from funds managed by Charme Capital Partners and Livingbridge.
  • an ADX-listed entity on its acquisition of a portfolio of residential and commercial mortgages.
  • Mayr-Melhnof Group on its acquisition of an integrated paper mill from US based International Paper.
  • Bridgepoint Capital on
    • its acquisitions of The Oasis Healthcare Group
    • its acquisition of Smiles Dental
  • Sunsuper on its acquisition of a 25% stake in Macquarie AirFinance, a subsidiary of the Macquarie Group, alongside Dutch pension fund PGGM.
  • Brait SE on
    • its acquisition of Virgin Active from Virgin Group and CVC Capital
    • its acquisition of New Look Retail Group from funds managed by Apax and Permira and subsequent portfolio management
  • Hg Capital on the sale of a cloud software platform to Visma.
  • The Carlyle Group on the sale of its interest in The RAC Group to funds managed by GIC.
  • Cerberus Capital Management on its acquisition of part of a portfolio of IHG hotels from the LRG Group.
  • Brookfield on its acquisition of the entire issued shared capital of Candor Investments Limited which holds certain high-value commercial assets in Asia from Unitech Corporate Parks plc.
  • Ares Management on the sale of a portfolio of Spanish real estate assets to Merlin Properties.
