Tim is an associate in our Antitrust, Competition, and Trade practice based in Washington, DC.
Tim advises clients on a range of antitrust and foreign investment issues in the context of M&A, litigation, and investigations. He has guided several multibillion-dollar transactions through Second Request investigations before the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC), along with parallel investigations in other jurisdictions. Tim also supports clients facing transaction reviews before the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) and other foreign direct investment (FDI) regimes globally.
Tim joined Freshfields after legal internships with the United States Department of Justice Antitrust Division, the Export-Import Bank of the United States, and the chambers of the Honorable M. Hannah Lauck, United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Virginia. Prior to law school, Tim was a paralegal in the Antitrust, Competition, and Trade practice.
Tim's experience includes advising:
- UPM on its €1.42 billion graphic paper joint venture with Sappi.
- Advent and Cinven on the combination of TK Elevator with Kone Corporation at an implied enterprise value of ~$34 billion.
- Cencora on the sale of its MWI Animal Health subsidiary to Covetrus and its $1.3 billion acquisition of PharmaLex.
- ABB on the $5.4 billion sale of its Robotics business to SoftBank.
- HPE on its $14 billion acquisition of Juniper Networks.
- DSV on its $16 billion acquisition of DB Schenker.
- Infineon on its $830 million acquisition of GaN Systems.
- Ericsson on its $6.2 billion acquisition of Vonage and the divestiture of its Internet of Things business to Aeris.
- Maersk on the proposed $1 billion sale of its refrigerated container manufacturing business to China International Marine Containers Co.
- As a law clerk, Evonik in the successful litigated defense of its acquisition of PeroxyChem. Read more here
