Freshfields advises Hellman & Friedman on its acquisition of a minority stake in Action Nederland from Partners Group

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP (‘Freshfields’) is advising leading private equity firm Hellman & Friedman (‘H&F’) on its acquisition of a minority equity stake in Action, Europe’s leading non-food discount retailer, from global private markets investment manager Partners Group. 
 
The transaction values Action at an enterprise value of €10.25bn. In 2018, Action generated net sales of over €4bn across 1,325 stores in seven countries with around 46,000 staff. Its core product assortment includes DIY, garden and outdoor, household goods, toys and entertainment and sports.  
 
The multi-jurisdictional Freshfields team was led by partners Tim Wilmot, Keir MacLennan, Shawn der Kinderen and Jill Gatehouse.
 
Freshfields has advised Hellman & Friedman on several high profile matters recently, including the $5.3bn take private of Nets and subsequent acquisition of Concardis, and the €1.8bn acquisition of Allfunds and subsequent partnerships with Credit Suisse InvestLab and BNP Paribas.
