Freshfields advises The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on The Earthshot Prize move to become an independent charity

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’) has advised The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (‘The Royal Foundation’) on the spin out of The Earthshot Prize into its own stand-alone charitable entity following a hugely successful first two years as part of The Royal Foundation.

The Earthshot Prize is a global environmental prize and platform to discover, accelerate and scale ground-breaking solutions to repair and regenerate the planet. It is designed to incentivise change and help to repair our planet over the next ten years by awarding five annual prizes of £1m to people and projects promoting innovation in respect of environmental protection.

The Prize and The Royal Foundation will continue to work in close partnership, and Prince William, who founded the Prize in 2020, will take on the role of President.

Freshfields’ corporate partner Lauren Honeyben and counsel Piusha Bose advised The Royal Foundation.
