Product liability
Protecting the world’s biggest businesses.
Our top-tier global product risk and liability practice combines large-firm litigation capabilities with extensive regulatory experience. We help clients defend complex international product and consumer litigation and manage complex product recalls.
Our global product risk and liability team helps businesses with high-value, cross-border litigation and regulatory matters involving consumer and commercial products across sectors including consumer goods, automotive, healthcare, aviation, chemicals, telecoms and tobacco.
Some of the world’s largest businesses trust us to coordinate the defence of consumer claims in a coordinated way across the globe and to handle associated regulatory issues wherever they arise, often in a co-ordinating counsel role when issues cross jurisdictions worldwide.
We also help clients spot regulatory issues before they arise. Our Regulatory Intelligence Unit involves a global network of regulatory specialists in more than 160 countries, who provide cost-effective but complex comparative regulatory analysis for a number of major clients. With a particular focus on consumer product and healthcare regulation, the Unit enables those clients to understand the regulatory environment wherever they do business, whether through one-off ‘snapshots’ of applicable laws or through proactive, ongoing monitoring.
Client successes
Acting (since 2010) as global coordinating counsel to a FTSE 100 company helping to manage the defence of product liability claims and regulatory requests across Europe, southeast Asia, Africa and Australasia.
Acting for a tobacco manufacturer as international co-ordinating counsel for the worldwide defence of product liability actions brought by individuals, classes or states. This includes the defence of groundbreaking healthcare costs reimbursement actions in nine Canadian provinces, as well as of class actions there and elsewhere.
