Investigations

Global companies are under scrutiny from a wider range of regulators than ever before and the drivers behind enforcement actions are multiplying. Our multidisciplinary global investigations practice can help address these challenges wherever in the world they arise.

Clients have come to us on more than 850 investigations mandates – many of which are multijurisdictional. Our team, which includes several former regulators and prosecutors, has successfully represented some of the largest corporations, banks and institutions on the highest-profile matters. Many investigations we handle involve alleged securities fraud, bribery, money-laundering, breaches of environment law and anti-competitive behaviour.

When a client is being investigated by regulators or needs to investigate a part of its own business, we provide, from a single point of contact, a team that tackles all the complex issues that arise. Whether it is pre-investment due diligence, employee disciplinary matters, dealing with the authorities or follow-on litigation, our team provides 360-degree coverage.

Client successes

As global FCPA counsel, we regularly advise on enhancing elements of the client’s global corporate compliance programme and anti-corruption policies and processes.

We were asked to determine whether the client’s compliance programme satisfied the World Bank’s Integrity Compliance Guidelines designed to prevent bribery and corruption, following a global investigation in which the World Bank determined that the company had engaged in corrupt practices in several countries in Africa.
