About Daniela Cala
Daniela is an associate in our international arbitration group in Washington, DC. Her practice focuses on international arbitration disputes in Latin America, with particular expertise on energy and natural resources disputes.
She has advised clients in a variety of sectors, including oil and gas, electricity and construction, and has acted in arbitrations under ICSID, CRCICA and CCB rules.
Daniela holds a JSD (PhD equivalent) and LLM (masters) degree from Cornell University in the United States, where she focused her research on international investment arbitration and public international law. She previously obtained degrees in economics and law from Universidad de los Andes in Colombia. She is also pursuing a masters degree in international law and a masters degree in economics at Universidad de los Andes in Colombia.
Before joining Freshfields, Daniela worked at leading law firms in Bogotá and London, advising clients in different areas, including international arbitration, antitrust and data privacy. She also worked at ICSID as an intern.
Daniela speaks Spanish and English fluently.
Daniela is admitted in New York and Colombia only. Practice limited to ICSID arbitration. Special Legal Consultant Application pending.
