About David Cornell

David is an associate in the firm’s strategic risk and crisis management practice. David’s practice focuses on helping clients navigate complex government investigations, designing and conducting internal corporate investigations, and advising clients on resulting legal, regulatory, and reputational risk.

Prior to joining Freshfields, David was an associate for several years in the San Francisco office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati where he spent three years in their cybersecurity and privacy group.  David also spent one year as a legal fellow at the Center for Justice and Accountability, a human rights organization that seeks to deter war crimes and human rights abuses around the world through litigation and transitional justice strategies.

David spent four years in the United States Marine Corps, where he deployed to Afghanistan and served as an assistant team leader in a Maritime Raid Force tasked with training special operations forces and conducting counter-piracy operations in the Horn of Africa. Prior to his time at Wilson Sonsini, David worked as a National Security Fellow in the United States House of Representatives.
