About Dr. Géraldine Gaulard
Géraldine is an Associate in our antitrust, competition and trade practice group.
She works on cases relating to all aspects of EU and French competition law, including cartels, abuses of dominant position, damage claims, merger control and State aid. She also advises on foreign investment filings, unfair commercial practices and regulatory matters.
Before joining Freshfields, Géraldine worked at another international law firm, the Paris Court of appeal (Regulatory Chamber (5-7)) and the General Court (Luxembourg).
Géraldine holds a PhD in competition law and is registered at the Paris Bar.
She speaks French, English, Spanish and Italian.
Recent work
- Advising Sony on its appeal against the French competition authority's first decision to reject commitments, establishing the constitutional right of immediate appeal of FCA’s decisions rejecting commitments.
- Advising LVMH on an acquisition in the tanneries sector.
- Advising Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec on the acquisition of Akiem, leading provider of locomotives leasing services in France and Europe.
- Advising (confidential) foreign investors on foreign investment screening issues
Qualifications
Academic background
- PhD in law, with distinction – summa cum laude (Université Aix-Marseille (France), supervised by Pr. D. Bosco and thesis published by Bruylant Publishing)
- Magister’s degree in European Business Law (Université Nancy II (France)/ Universidad Complutense Madrid (Spain)

- Admitted to the Paris bar (Avocat à la Cour)
