About Tracy Lu

Tracy is a senior associate in the firm’s Antitrust, Competition and Trade Group based in Shanghai. Tracy has practiced in the antitrust area for nearly ten years advising multinational and Chinese companies on antitrust and foreign investment matters in China and globally including cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, investigations, and compliance matters.

Tracy has advised on some of the most high-profile matters involving China antitrust and competition and foreign investment issues for both Chinese and international clients, from a wide range of sectors, including financial services, energy, chemicals, property, healthcare, industry, consumer goods, food and beverages. She also has extensive experience with merger control regimes in Asia.

Outside the antitrust sphere, Tracy is also actively involved in pro bono matters including assisting various international organizations with research and consultation projects.

Tracy is admitted to practice in New York, USA and has passed the PRC bar exam. She speaks fluent Mandarin and English.

  • Advising Viterra on the merger filings in Asia for its US$8.2 billion merger with Bunge, creating a US$34 billion agri-trading conglomerate.
  • Advising Volkswagen Group on the global merger control, foreign investment and general antitrust compliance aspects for its EUR 2.4 billion investment by its wholly-owned subsidiary, CARIAD, and cooperation with Horizon Robotics, a computing solutions provider for smart vehicles, as well as its €1bn investment in Anhui Jianghuai Group.
  • Advising Parker-Hannifin on the the global merger control aspects for its acquisition of Meggitt.
  • Advising Cargotec on the merger control aspects for its proposed acquisition of Konecranes.
  • Advising Aon on the merger control aspects for its proposed acquisition of Willis Towers Watson Public Limited Company.
  • Advising CPP Investments on a series of strategic investments in various sectors globally, including on the US$215m co-investment, alongside FountainVest Partners, into Langdi Pharmaceutical.
  • Advising Guangdong Wencan Die Casting Co., Ltd. on the global merger control and foreign investment aspects of its EUR250m acquisition of Le Bélier, a leading publicly listed aluminium auto parts company in France.
  • Advising Maersk on the merger filing aspectis for its acquisition of Hamburg Südamerikanische Dampfschifffahrts-Gesellschaft KG including the implementation and lifting of the remedies upon expiration.
  • Advising Starbucks on the US$1.3bn buy-out of its East China joint venture from its long-term joint venture partners Uni-President Enterprises and President Chain Store and the simultaneous sale of Starbucks’ interest in President Starbucks Coffee Taiwan.
  • Advising ChemChina on the global merger control aspects of its acquisition of the Italian tire giant Pirelli and the German machinery manufacturer KraussMaffei.
  • Advising a few leading global industrial clients on alleged anti-competitive agreement investigations in China as well as their internal investigations regarding antitrust issues including resale price mainteinance, information exchange and bid rigging.
