About Amella Viso

Amella is a senior associate in the firm’s securities and shareholder litigation practice based out of New York. Prior to joining Freshfields, Amella clerked for the Honorable Anne M. Nardacci.  Immediately prior to her clerkship, Amella was a litigation and trial associate at a New York firm, where she engaged in securities litigation, complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts, arbitrations, white-collar defense and regulatory investigations.

During law school, Amella was the managing editor for the Michigan Journal of Gender and Law and actively involved as a Student Attorney with the Juvenile Justice Clinic and the Criminal Appellate Practice Clinic.

  • A Special Litigation Committee in a shareholder derivative action in Delaware Chancery alleging breach of fiduciary duty and aiding-and-abetting breach of fiduciary duty in reaching favorable settlement.*
  • A witness in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of New York, prosecution of an executive of a public company.*
  • A financial institution in an investigation by the DOJ and SEC concerning its investment in a cryptocurrency platform.*
  • An electric vehicle manufacturer in connection with an investigation by the SEC.
  • A government official and financial institution in connection with insider trading investigations by DOJ and SEC.  Investigations closed with no further enforcement action.*
  • A public accounting firm in connection with an investigation by the PCAOB.*
  • Successfully conducted internal investigation relating to potential violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.*
  • Successfully conducted an internal investigation concerning potential theft of intellectual property at leading hedge fund.*
  • Successfully obtained voluntary dismissal in a case against an entrepreneur involving allegations of fraud. *
  • A public accounting firm in U.S. and U.K. based arbitrations relating to the audit work performed for an asset manager.*
