Freshfields US data regulation and IP partner Menachem Kaplan will be speaking on the webinar “Generative AI: Trouble in Paradise?” in connection with the ninth annual Berkeley Spring Forum on M&A and the Boardroom.

Generative AI tools like ChatGPT are all the rage, but do they have a copyright problem? AI tools rely on computer code developed by others and in 2022, a class-action lawsuit was filed arguing that these tools violate the rights of the original programmers. Preceding the panel, Berkeley Law Assistant Dean Adam Sterling will interview Bloomberg reporter Rachel Metz on the state of generative AI.

Additional speakers include Rachel Metz (Bloomberg), Pamela Samuelson (Berkeley Law), Joseph Saveri (Saveri Law Firm), and Adam Sterling (Berkeley Law).
