Freshfields recognised in host of Asian industry awards

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’) has been recognised for its work in Asia in a series of prestigious legal sector awards.

On 20 September 2018, the firm was named ‘Best in Energy & Infrastructure’ at the Asialaw and Benchmark Litigation Dispute Resolution Awards 2018. The award followed the China Law & Practice Awards the previous week, in which the firm was named M&A Firm of the Year and also won awards for Finance Deal of the Year (for Geely’s US$9bn financing for its Daimler investment) and Energy and Resources Project of the Year (for the Poly-GCL Petroleum Group US$4bn Ethiopia-Djibouti gas-to-LNG project).

The week before, one of the deals on which Freshfields advised was named M&A Deal of the Year (mid-size) at the ALB Hong Kong Law Awards. This was the sale by Hutchison Telecommunications of its fixed-line telecommunications business.

“I’m delighted that our work has been recognised with these respected awards,” said Georgia Dawson, Asia managing partner at Freshfields. “These wins underline the breadth of our offering in various Asian jurisdictions and across different industry sectors.”
