Freshfields’ Asia managing partner recognised for LGBT+ inclusion efforts

Georgia Dawson, Asia managing partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’), has been included in the OUTstanding LGBT+ Role Models 2019, supported by Yahoo Finance.

Georgia’s inclusion in the OUTstanding 50 Ally Executives List marks the second year in a row that she has been recognised by OUTstanding. All of the 2019 Role Models were nominated by peers and colleagues. Nominations were then reviewed by OUTstanding’s eminent panel of judges, comprising senior international business leaders. To win inclusion in the OUTstanding 50 Ally Executives List, nominees had to be vocal LGBT+ allies, actively working to create an environment that is inclusive for all.

As a senior leader, Georgia regularly advocates for equality and inclusivity. In 2015 she launched the Asia chapter of Halo Champions, the firm’s global LGBT+ network. She encourages Freshfields colleagues across Asia to participate in activities to mark key dates such as IDAHOT Day and leads the firm’s sponsorship of Pink Dot Hong Kong – an important celebration of inclusion and love for all.

Georgia was a driving force behind the firm’s endorsement of the UN Standards of Business Conduct for LGBT+ people, and has led efforts to implement policies and best practices within the firm. She has utilised her passion for diversity and inclusion to provide collaboration opportunities with clients and has led on many pro bono projects. She was named Stonewall’s Global Senior Champion earlier this year.

“It is a real honour to be included in the OUTstanding 50 Ally Executives List for the second consecutive year,” said Georgia Dawson. “It is important to recognise that this could not have happened without the hard work of many members of our Asia team, who believe passionately in Freshfields’ commitment to LGBT+ equality and truly inclusive workplaces and communities.”
