Freshfields advises Airbus on acquisition of A220 shares from Bombardier

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’) has advised Airbus SE (‘Airbus’) on the acquisition of Bombardier Inc.'s (‘Bombardier’) shares in the A220 project. Bombardier was the second-largest shareholder in the A220 project, with a stake of around 33 per cent. Airbus already owned just over 50 per cent of the shares. After the takeover, Airbus will hold around 75 per cent; the remaining shares are held by the investment agency of the province of Québec. The transaction will be completed imminently.

Freshfields previously advised Airbus together with the Canadian law firm Stikeman Elliott when Airbus joined the A220 project in 2017. Freshfields has worked on the carve-out and on all operational aspects of the acquisition of A220 shares.

The multi-jurisdictional Freshfields team was led by partners Torsten Schreier (Frankfurt) and Menachem Kaplan (New York), supported by principal associates Philipp Dohnke (Hamburg) and Stefan Bajohr, and associates Marius Stein (Frankfurt) and Max Sanders (New York).
