Freshfields Advises General Atlantic’s BeyondNetZero on Its Investment in Sun King

Freshfields advised BeyondNetZero as lead investor in the $260m Series D funding round of Sun King (formerly Greenlight Planet), the largest provider of solar energy products for off-grid homes in Africa and Asia.

BeyondNetZero is the climate investing venture of General Atlantic. BeyondNetZero’s investment strategy focuses on decarbonization, energy efficiency, resource conservation and emissions management.

The multi-jurisdictional and cross-practice Freshfields team on the matter involved colleagues from the US, Dubai, London, Amsterdam, Hong Kong and China. The team was co-led out of Dubai and New York by Partners Rob Cant and Andrea Merediz Basham, with principal support from Senior Associate Maha Osman and Associates Laura Fruehauf and Umraan Naeem.
