About Rikki Haria

Rikki’s practice covers all aspects of UK and EU competition law, including merger control and foreign investment reviews, antitrust investigations and market inquiries.

As a member of the firm's global Tech practice, Rikki has significant experience in advising tech, digital platform, media and telecoms clients, as well as financial services and consumer goods companies. He also has experience formulating innovative legal solutions and risk management strategies that enable businesses to execute their product strategies in digital markets.

As much of his work is multi-jurisdictional, Rikki helps clients to devise successful cross-border commercial strategies across different regulatory environments, including on the intersection of competition, data privacy and consumer protection law. He regularly provides strategic advice to corporate clients and financial investors on high-profile, complex and cross-border transactions.

Rikki has spent time on secondment at the UK Competition and Markets Authority in its mergers unit. He has acted before the UK Competition and Markets Authority, the European Commission and other competition regulators.

  • Meta Platforms on the UK CMA's online platforms and digital advertising market study and the defence and co-ordination of ongoing proceedings and inquiries before the European General Court, the European Commission and other global competition authorities.
  • Verizon on the global antitrust and foreign investment aspects of the $5bn sale of Verizon Media to funds managed by Apollo Global Management, Inc.
  • BT/Openreach on its fibre network build and commercial business model to deliver “full-fibre” broadband around the UK.
  • Cazoo, the fastest growing unicorn platform business, on various strategic acquisitions.
  • Zoopla and RVU on their growth strategy and various acquisitions in relation to their property and digital comparison businesses, including and Tempcover.
  • HSBC on a number of FCA and CMA investigations and studies, including the CMA’s Phase 2 market investigation into the state of competition in personal and SME banking.
  • Tesco on the CMA’s Phase 2 investigation into its acquisition of Booker and its strategic alliance with Carrefour.
  • CVC on the merger control and competition aspects of its strategic investments in the Premiership Rugby and PRO14 rugby competitions.
  • Hellman & Friedman Advisors LLC on its acquisition of Concardis Payment Group.
  • Boparan Private Office on its acquisition of Bernard Matthews.
